The age-old struggle to find balance with work and family, ahh! Well, I’m going to share a 3-step plan to finally get your life back from your business today. Through this plan, you will begin to get back your life.
Being A Solopreneur
If you are a solopreneur, you know the burden of being the only one who knows how to run your business. This can lead to burnout, fatigue, loss of time with family & friends, and more.
Don’t wait until an emergency or you are missing a child’s birthday or an important event. Start today with these steps.
Step One: Build Out Your Processes
The first step in getting your life back is to build out all of your processes. What does that mean? It means your manual of operations or also called SOPs.
This will become your go-to manual to help others. The other reason it is important is that in the event of an illness that requires you to be out of work for a period of time, you need to have processes recorded for someone else to follow.
For urgent reasons and to help those you bring on board later, it is important. Record the steps you take in your business every day. From walking into the office and turning on the computer all the way through to shutting it down at night. Everything in between needs to be documented in a shareable, secure place.
Step Two: Add Subcontractors
Once you have your processes documented, you will be able to bring on a subcontractor (or you can call them a team member, but they are contracted). Often, you are too busy to see your need for help. Sometimes you feel you cannot even stop to do the hiring process for a subcontractor.
These subcontractors should be able to work directly with clients! This is another step in how you begin to finally get your life back from your business, to hire subcontractors.
Step Three: Automate, Automate, Automate
Once you begin to bring on a subcontractor to help you with client work you will be ready for the last step. Step three is to automate everything you can so you can work on your business and not in your business. As an online service provider, I recommend that you automate as much as possible.
I also recommend that when you bring on help you have them work directly with clients so that it frees you up and helps you focus on building the business and gives you flexibility.
Flexibility helps you take the time you need for family, children’s events, and general time with them. When we are so focused on the work of the business, because you are working in the business, it is much harder to see what is needed to work on the business.
When you have processes documented, a subcontractor brought on, and you’ve automated as much as you can you are beginning to unravel the tangling of yourself within the business. That is when you can begin to set your own schedule, not your client’s schedule. Giving you flexibility and a life again.
Final Thoughts
Free yourself from the entangling of your business to begin to live life as you intended when you started this business. The dream that is still floating around in your mind that you’ve not shared with anyone. It’s time to take steps to li.ve this life by setting yourself up for success.
These simple steps really can help to begin to build a better business and personal life for yourself.
