Mompreneurs are always busy, but there are times when we are especially taxed on our time. During these times, we find it difficult to help our businesses grow. What is the answer? In this article, I discuss 5 Mompreneur growth strategies for busy times.
A growth strategy is a plan of action businesses use to navigate and achieve their expansion goals.”
AFFISE
When aren’t there busy times as a Mompreneur? I know when my children were young, it wasn’t easy to balance it all. My husband is a Pastor, so we always had lots to do at our local church, which we loved. At the same time, we had three growing children who were active in sports and music activities. Once I moved them from public school to homeschooling, those activities did not stop but were incorporated into our schooling schedule.
5 Strategies for Growth as a Mompreneur
Five strategies helped me stay sane and continue to grow my business. Let me share those with you.
- Task automation
- Prioritize
- Consistent Strategies
- Do Tasks Ahead
- Bringing on a Team Member
Task Automation
Task automation can be the backbone of most online businesses today. Automations help us with a multitude of tasks, including:
- Capturing leads
- Schedule meetings
- Sending out large email campaigns
- Scheduling social media posts
- Managing memberships
- Creating & hosting courses
- Much more
These are a few of the automations that I use today. I plan to incorporate additional automation in the future. Now, with the introduction of AI (artificial intelligence), we can even have blog articles written, get help with copy for our emails and social media posts, and much, much more.
Prioritize
As a Mompreneur, I quickly learned that I had to prioritize. Prioritizing, simply put, is making a list of priorities in your life and business and then numbering them in order of importance. For example, one of my highest priorities was my family (husband and children), so I knew they had to be at the top of the list, right after my time with God.
My list of priorities looked something like this:

- God – my quiet time, including devotional reading or bible study and prayer.
- Husband – sometimes when children are very young, it is easy to mix up these priorities, but our husbands should come first, and then our children.
- Children – at times, our children demand to be first, and that cannot be helped in emergencies (infant needs, sudden injury, etc.), but overall, they should come after our husbands. [My priorities (right photo) = my young children in 1996; Samantha (4 yrs), Matthew (6 yrs), & baby Jonathan (newborn)]
- Work/Business – our business, or maybe you also have an outside job while building your business, and these came next for me.
- Ministry – came after and do not mix this up with the top priority of spending time in His presence and studying His word. Often, my ministry was Women’s Ministry, including teaching bible studies, and ministering to the needs of those who came, including counseling and prayer. At some churches, I also planned events, including retreats and trips (in town and out of town) to see women’s speakers.
- Other relationships – this included time with friends and family we were close to. Always make time for this because it often feeds your soul and rests your spirit.
- Personal space or refreshment – time to refresh your personal needs and take a true break. Scheduling time for massages, spa time, or other things that help refresh you, including hobbies. When I couldn’t get away, I did scrapbooking at night after the kids were sleeping. Something about it soothed my soul and brought me joy.
You will find that prioritizing people and tasks will help you feel more in control and able to manage all aspects of your life. Make sure you find the right prioritization that will work for you. You may have to play around with it at first to get it right, but take time to figure it out; it is one of the most important strategies.
Consistent Strategies
Speaking of strategies, having consistent marketing strategies is also key when you are a busy Mompreneur. Whether that time is the Holiday season, children’s birthdays, or an upcoming vacation you are taking, it doesn’t matter because if you put these strategies into effect, you will be able to continue to grow your business.
Consistent strategies include staying consistent with this entire list of five strategies. It also means being consistent with your marketing strategies.
- Scheduling your social media content, including graphics and copy.
- Writing your blog regularly and publishing it.
- Sending out regular emails to those on your list.
- Create your ads (if you do any) and keep these on a regular schedule.
These can be very time-consuming. This is why keeping up with it all is important. It is difficult to catch up and often means skipping time. If you skip a week or even two with these activities, it gives your followers time to pick up on someone else’s feed or emails. It is imperative that you stay on their radar so that when the need for your services comes up, you are top of their mind.
Do Tasks Ahead
Trying to stay ahead on your tasks when able is crucial, especially during the Holiday season, scheduled vacations, upcoming surgeries (yours or family members), and any other times when you will be away. This way, it will not seem as if you are away at all because your marketing, blog articles, social media posts, and all others will still come out as always.
Stay ahead of schedule and do those tasks ahead of time as much as you are able. Keep them in a ‘bank’ as it were to save, and when needed, you can send them out or schedule them. Some will write articles weeks ahead of publishing time. Others will write extra articles and have them set aside for those busier times when they release them. It is always good to have a month’s worth of blogs, social media posts, and email marketing copy prepared for when it is needed. If this seems extreme, try getting at least a week or two ahead.
I say a month is a good rule of thumb because if you know me, you know my story about coding at the hospital and not returning to work fully for an entire month! I would have loved to have had a month’s worth of these items.
Bring On a Team Member
Lastly, bringing on a team member can help lighten the load immensely. As I said, I was out of work for a month one time, and had it not been for my team members, I would have lost my business. They kept things running for me completely. I was so grateful.
How about you? Do you have a team member or members? Do they work on client work or do they work on your tasks, or both? It took me a long time to realize I would tell clients they needed to do what they did best and outsource the rest to us! Yet, I wasn’t doing this myself. I finally began to outsource my tasks to my team also and what a relief it was. And this allowed my business to grow!
Final Thoughts
My final thoughts regarding busy Mompreneurs and strategies to keep your business growing are that consistency and help are the keys. Do not pass up help. Moms tend to be superheroes and do it all! Stop being the superhero Mom, you need a break too. I will also say that your business does not have to grow in large ways. It was important to me to be present with my children as they grew up! I didn’t want to miss a moment; it goes by so quickly. You will have the rest of your life to grow a business.
So, today, after you read this article, please begin to put these strategies into practice. And if I can help you with your business growth, please reach out to me.
To Your Continued Success!
